Post Office Card Account vital to future of local provision.

Carmarthen East and Dinefwr’s MP and AM have written to the Secretary of State for Business, John Hutton MP, supporting local post offices who are concerned about the future of the Post Office Card Account.  Adam Price and Rhodri Glyn Thomas have called on the Secretary of State to ensure that the future of local post offices is considered when deciding on who takes up the tendering of the Card.

Adam Price MP said:

“The tender for this card is due to go out soon and it is vital that for the future of local post offices it is retained within their service.  Post offices are already under attack from the Westminster Government who have planned to close thousands throughout Britain.”

Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM added:

“We have written to the Secretary of State firmly backing the views of sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses in their views that the card account stays with the post office.  Those in the industry in Carmarthenshire have raised their concerns with us about the proposals and we have only been too happy to bring their fears to the Governments attention.”
