Welsh Households Paying More for Electricity
Plaid Cymru MP, Adam Price, has backed calls for the energy regulator, Ofgem to launch an investigation into why people in Wales are being charged up to 18% more for their electricity than consumers in England.
Adam Price said:
“People in Wales have seen their bills rise by nearly £200 over the last 4 years and I can not see why it is acceptable that they are also forced to be paying out more than English residents. Some electricity suppliers have tried to justify the difference by sighting the cost of distributing electricity from National grid points in England to households in Wales. However, I am sure English consumers will not see a difference in their Gas bills for the pipeline that runs through Carmarthenshire.”
Adam Price MP added:
“It is unacceptable that people in Carmarthenshire, who should be valued customers, have to face paying more than people in England. I hope that Ofgem look at their responsibility for the price controls and ensure a fair deal for Carmarthenshire residents.”
