Support Welsh farmers as restrictions eased
10th August 2007
News that the movement restrictions on farm animals had been eased has been welcomed by local politicians. Adam Price MP said it was excellent news for farmers in Carmarthenshire who have been hit financially by the ban.
Adam Price said:
“I am delighted that the Elin Jones in her capacity as Rural Affairs Minister has helped lift the restrictions to allow animals to be taken directly from the farm to the abattoir and for distribution to retailers. It is now very important that people support Welsh farmers through buying Welsh meat and buying local.”
Adam added:
It is important that farmers are not complacent and remain vigilant. We are all hoping that this outbreak does not affect Wales any further and that Welsh farmers are not hit any harder by this issue.”
