MP Urges Council to protect local services
Carmarthenshire County Council has been urged by local MP Adam Price to save their local post offices which are threatened with closure. Councils in other parts of the UK have intervened to protect local services and the Carmarthenshire representatives are calling on the Labour-Independent council to protect provisions in the county.
Adam Price said:
“We are urging the council to step in against the Labour Westminster Governments proposals and see if they can take practical steps to save our Post Offices. We have written to the council to see what steps they can take to protect post offices in the county that face closure.”
Adam added:
“There have been examples of councils that have worked alongside threatened post offices to ensure that the facility remains open. Our communities rely on these services, especially in the more rural areas and any support they could get from a council level would be essential.”
