Local MP meets Corus to discuss redundancies
Concerns over job cuts in the Corus plant in Llandybie are to be addressed as the areas local MP meets with the factory’s management. Adam Price has arranged to discuss the concerns with staff at the site on Friday, December 14th. A number of voluntary redundancies have been offered which will become compulsory if the offer is not taken up.
Adam Price MP said:
“There are concerns not only about the future provision of work at the factory but about the level of compensation on offer to those already facing redundancy. I have been in contact with the trade unions and hope that this meeting will lead to assurances about the future of employment in the area.”
Adam added:
“This is an important employer for the area and so I am pleased that a meeting has been arranged to discuss the redundancy issue. I am hoping that there can be a working compromise between the employer and the trade unions as to the amount of compensation, as well as a discussion on the future of the business in Llandybie.”
