Calls made for bus shelter work to be undertaken

8th November 2007

Calls have been made for a bus shelter in Ammanford after residents have been left without one since the old shelter was removed to be upgraded. The shelter in Trefrhiw Road was dismantled for a new shelter to be erected but as yet there has been no progress on the matter. The issue has now been taken up by Adam Price MP and Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM who have called on the council to ensure a shelter is in place as winter is fast approaching.

Adam Price MP said:

“The original shelter was taken down to make way for a newer facility but it has yet to be erected. With winter coming, the nights getting darker and colder, it is important to ensure that people using this bus stop are provided with a new shelter.”

Adam added:

“We’ve written to the council requesting that the work on the new shelter commences as soon as possible to get this bus stop up to scratch. It is an inconvenience to local residents who are reliant on the bus service and with colder and wetter weather it is very important that the work is done.”
