Brazilian Beef Ban is Good News for Carmarthenshire Farmers
The European Commission’s decision to ban all Brazilian Beef imports has been welcomed by Carmarthenshire politicians Adam Price MP. Adam has campaigned for a ban for some time sighting the reduced hygiene and health standards compared to good local produce.
Adam Price MP said:
“This is great news for Carmarthenshire farmers and consumers. The industry has suffered because cheaper Brazilian beef has been imported at a lower quality. I am pleased this ban has now come in which will allow our local farmers, who adhere to the highest standards, a fairer deal and will allow consumers the peace of mind of knowing they are purchasing top quality produce.”
Adam added:
“For a number of years we have been saying that the substandard meat imported from Brazil was having a detrimental effect on the farming industry, so this ban is very much welcomed.”
