AM and MP intervene in Traffic Safety Issue
Safety fears have been raised over a decision to place double yellow lines on Bridge Street road entering Llandeilo. Local residents have argued that the proposal will create a potentially dangerous situation forcing young families and elderly residents to cross over a busy trunk road to access parking bays on the other side of the road. Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM and Adam Price MP, the areas local representatives, have written to the Trunk Road agency requesting they intervene in the decision.
Adam Price MP said:
“Residents have reacted with a great deal of concern to this proposal. Their local knowledge has identified this as a serious risk. To ask people to cross a busy road to get to the parking bays, especially elderly residents or people with children is dangerous.”
Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM added:
“We have written to the Trunk Roads Agency asking them to overturn the decision. Measures are put in place to address issues surrounding the flow of traffic but we must be careful that they do not create safety problems.”
