Adam calls for Windfall Tax to help residents struggling with fuel costs
Local MP Adam Price has backed calls for a windfall tax to tackle the rising cost of energy bills. The Plaid MP stated that it was unacceptable that at a time when many people are struggling to cope with the cost of fuel energy companies are making huge annual profits. The Carmarthenshire MP has called on the Government to take steps to address the issue and has written to the Chancellor to highlight his concerns.
Adam Price MP said:
“This is an extremely challenging period for many people. The reality of the situation is that families are facing an impossible choice - either to buy food or heat their homes. This is completely unacceptable, and cannot be tolerated any longer. I would certainly back a windfall tax as energy companies are making substantial profit.”
Adam added:
“I have written to the Chancellor urging him to take steps to address this problem. In rural areas such as Carmarthenshire the situation is even worse with many people using heating oil which has seen a significant rise in cost.”
